This attitude is what dresses and inspires the effortless cool girls wardrobe. She doesn’t care about looks, she’s more about what is comfortable and what’s easy to throw on. Paying very little attention to if her shoes go with her pants or if her pants match her top. It’s all thrown together in a very IDGAF way.
Let’s get into her closet
STARTING WITH HER MAKEUP DRAWER
As stated above, the effortless cool girl really doesn’t care. So when it comes to her makeup, she wants to spend as little time imaginable on it. This could be because she just rolled out of bed and has 2 minutes to get ready, who knows. This is going to look like tinted moisturizer that can be spread on with her hands, a light bronzer for some contour vigorously rubbed on by an $8 brush, maybe a little brow action with some color from an eyebrow pencil then a gel to make them stay in place and last but not least the cherry on top, a beautiful dewy cream blush. All of this is going to make her face look glowy and fresh.. kind of like she just rolled out of bed but in the best way.
When it comes to the apparel of the effortless cool girl, the items in her closet can and will work with ANYTHING, even if it does not actually match. That is a very important detail to remember.
Shoes
Although her closet is full of many shoes, there are three main shoes you need to be on the look out for. These would be the Miu Miu biker boot, Onitsuka Mexico 66’s, and any form of red knee high boots.
Now, the original Miu Miu biker boots are nearly $3,000. Thankfully, Steve Madden had our backs and came out with an identical pair for under$200!
Unfortunately, Onitsuka’s are not available to be shipped to the US so you have to use outsider websites to purchase. I will always recommend GOAT. I have only heard good things about the website plus you can make your own offers if you’re not comfortable with the price the seller has them listed for!
When it comes to knee high boots, I like to play it safe with a chunky heel. If you’re on the fence about the color or owning a pair of knee highs, don’t fret. This pair is your saving grace because they’re on sale for $85
We are talking jeans so loose, they are literally swimming in them. Jeans so loose you can roll them at the waist and almost always need to roll them at the bottoms to be able to walk. Where are you going to find these jeans you may ask? Well, in my opinion, the best ‘loose’ jeans have to be ungodly worn in and washed about a million times and the only place you’re going to find those is the mens section of a Goodwill or really any vintage store.
When you’re out searching the isles of Goodwill, sometimes you don’t have the luxury of a fitting room. In these cases, I like to hold them up to the lower section of my waist and have them touch the sides of my hips. Typically, this always gives enough room to be able to roll them once I get home. As always, try them on before purchasing just to be safe if your Goodwill allows though.
skirts..
There are two types of skirts an effortless cool girl keeps in her closet: a maxi and a mini
maxi:
For the maxi skirt really anything goes in the effortless cool girls closet. Lace, ruffles, denim, ect. The best places to find these is going to be thrifted again just because they will be nice and worn in making them flow more effortlessly. I did link some incase you’re more of an online shopper, just click on the name of the preferred fabric!
Here is where the effortless cool girl gets picky. She doesn’t like a lot of texture in her mini skirt, simply becuase she layeres over it and you can really only see the bottom inch of the skirt. I would go for a very plain mini skort for extra comfort. Here is the link to my favorite mini skort:
If you can’t tell by now throughout all of the graphics, the top section of the effortless cool girls closet is the most.. plain. But this is what makes all of her clothes mesh together. Any type of plain colored top: tanks, baby, t shirts, ect. When you’re shopping these tops… Abercrombie and H&M have amazing basics that are gong to last you.
There are two staple accessories an effortless cool girl carries: sunglasses & purses. When it comes to her sunglasses there are two sizes: extra small and extra large. There is no in between.
In conclusion, the effortless cool girl low key looks a little bit like a hot mess, emphasis on the hot part. She likes her clothes two sizes to big, thrifts almost all of them, slaps on her make up, doesn’t brush her hair, and simply doesn’t give a sh*t. But she’s an effortless cool mess;)
