Business casual is simply a step underneath business professional. Business professional is exactly what you’re thinking of, a full on suit. When you’re told to dress business casual, you’re still dressing up to look nice/presentable just a little less intense.
If you are in need of business casual outfits, inspiration, or just want to get an idea of what the h*ll it even is, I have 5 different types of styling outfits below for purchase or for inspiration!

One of my favorite ways to dress business casual is with a blazer and jeans. If you are new to wearing blazers, I recommend purchasing one at a thrift store first to make sure you’re going to like the look and feel of it on yourself. If you do end up liking the look, my go to blazer spot is ALWAYS Abercrombie & Fitch. They have phenomenal quality and styles of blazers. If you’re wanting something more affordable, H&M is a great place too!
My second favorite way to dress business casual is with tailored pants and a casual top. These are the Sloane Tailored pants from Abercrombie & Fitch. They are quite literally the comfiest pants that I have ever put on my body – even over sweatpants. I will be saving up to purchase them in every color.
Target and ZARA are great places to find simple basic tops. I love to opt for body suits when I wear tailored pants because you don’t have to stress about them untucking themselves throughout the day or annoying panty lines.
This one is for the colder months of the year. Sweaters are an easy way to dress business casual but can be extremely boring. If you’re in a warm climate, opt for a sweater vest!
To keep your outfits interesting, mix it up with a fun pair of pants, eye catching patterns, and bold accessories.
I also love to throw a sweater over top of a flowy sundress. Put a sports bra overtop of your dress & tuck the sweater up underneath the front of the bra to shorten the length of the sweater if desired.
IDK about you but my place of work only allows for jeans on Fridays. I think jeans are the most versatile and easies type of pants to style. My cheat code is colored pairs of jeans to wear Monday – Thursday. These pants are the ZW Marine Straight High Rise Jeans from ZARA. They are casual but not so casual that they aren’t dressy enough for work. You can always opt for a flowy skirt if that’s more your vibe.
Although she’s expensive, Anthropologie is always my go to spot for a chic, eye catching blouses. I will say Anthropologie’s quality is top tier. So, I personally think they are worth their price point because they will be in your closet for years on end.
Outfit #5
Please excuse my unenthusiastic expression. First day back after 2 week Spring Break does not put me in a good mood.
Last but not least, collared button ups! Pastel pin striped button ups are going OFF at the moment but really any kind of collared button up would look great.
Zara & H&M always have cute, affordable options. I love having a couple of staple button ups in my closet because they are chic, versatile and incredibly comfortable!
This one will really come into play for jean day’s if your company allows for those. I personally feel like button ups are easiest to style with straight leg jeans. If you aren’t able to wear jean jeans.. opt for colored jeans, tailored pants, or even skirts!
Fool proof method to making sure you have a good day is to wake up & put on a killer outfit.
