I’ve got all of the tips and tricks below to help you figure out which jewelry tone will look best on you!

SILVER

Green, blue, gray eyes.
Blonde, Brown, Black hair.
Lighter complexion
Cool (rosy) undertones

GOLD

Hazel, brown, amber eyes.
Black, strawberry blonde and red hair.
Darker complexion
Warm (yellow) undertones

BUT HOW DO I KNOW WHAT UNDERTONE I AM?

This is a question I have been asking myself since the first time I had to purchase foundation. Truth be told, there are three very simple and accurate test’s to help you figure out if you have a warm, cool, or neutral undertone.

FLASHLIGHT TEST

This one is my personal favorite. It’s simple, quick, and easy. Like, you don’t even have to get up off of your couch easy.

HOW TO:

All you need is a flashlight (yes the one on your cellphone counts) and the veins in your wrist!

Hold the flashlight over your wrist. If your veins look purple or blue, you have a cool undertone. If they look green or yellow, you have a warm undertone. If you’re having a hard time finding your veins, then you’re a neutral!

WHITE PAPER TEST

In my opinion, this one is the trickiest. If you’ve struggled to match your foundation to you undertone before, you are most likely going to struggle to see the yellow or pink in your skin during this test as well.

HOW TO

Grab a mirror and a white piece of paper, bed sheet, or even throw on a crisp white tee shirt. If you go with the fabrics, be sure they are a true white and not to do this test while the sun is going down or coming up!

Take the mirror and white option of your choice from above and stand in front of a window. Then, simply examine the shade of your skin. If you notice your skin is more pinkish, you have a cold undertone. If your skin has a yellow appeal, then you have a warm undertone. Last but not least, if you notice a mixture of the two, you’re a neutral baby!

SUNBURN TEST

If you hate sunburns or don’t have enough spare time to sit out in the sun for 30 minutes, this test is not going to be for you.

HOW TO:

This one could be a little difficult if you’re reading this and it is currently winter where you live because you do unfortunately need to sit out in the beaming sun without any sunscreen. If you’ve never experienced a sunburn before or can’t remember the details of your previous sunburns, 20-30 minutes without sunscreen should get you all of the information you need for this test.

If you burn easily but do not a tan easily, you are cool toned.

If you tan quickly and can keep the tan, you’re a warm tone.

If you burn and keep your tan, you’re neutral!

SO BASICALLY…

WARM

More yellow or golden skin.

Stick to wearing gold.

COOL

More pink or rosy skin.

Stick to wearing silver.

NEUTRAL

Neutral undertones mean that you have a mixture of both warm and cool tones! For example, warm tones in your hair and cool tones in your eyes, or vice versa!

The lucky ones, you can choose from either!

I will forever and always advocate spending your money on good quality jewelry. Sure, the cheap stuff is a steal and you can find some really cute items but it never lasts. Not only does it not last but I feel like there is less care/connection for it. I didn’t recognize this until I had my first real authentic piece of jewelry. I knew it carried importance and worth so I have always taken good care of it and had a genuine love for it. As for the earrings that I spent $16 on? I would throw them all over my house not giving a care in the world if I lost one of them because like I said above, they were $16.
