The lines can easily get crossed between what we want to be trends and what we think actually will be a trend in 2024. Below are 9 trend predictions we think will be hot in 2024.
As always, we have included items to shop so you can start incorporating them in your wardrobe ASAP.
Breaking News the 80s are Back
As I was listing out my trends I realized that they were all variations of 1980’s fashion. After that amazing detective work I decided to really lean into that for my trend predictions.

Big Shoulders
Shoulder pads can be seen in fashion as early as 1930, but their breakthrough was in the 1980s.
The bigger the better
They were popular in women’s corporate fashion, and for good reason. I am absolutely doing anything a lady in shoulder pads tells me to do. In 2024, I expect us to see them in blazers and dresses, not only shoulder pads, but also puff sleeves.

Off The Shoulder
Sexy shoulders of the 80s
This is not the most novel of trends by any means, but I have been seeing a lot more of it lately. 80s off the shoulder looks were either about layering or going braless, so pick your poison.

Micro Shorts
We are all familiar with corny 80s workout ladies in the onesies, tight, and leg warmers.
The onesie walked so mirco shorts could run. I have been seeing micro shorts for awhile now, but it’s the “shorts” and tights in particular that I think will be big in 2024. I am picturing both sheer tights and patterned tights for this trend. Pairing the tights, shorts, and a top with shoulder pads, is the ultimate 80s outfit for 2024. Just like Hailey Bieber is doing here in this photo.

Socks and Heels
Piggy backing off of 80s work out, socks and heels are really just a step away from leg warmers. This has been my obsession lately. Not only because it’s hot, but because it’s 10x more comfortable to wear heels with socks than without. Don’t get me wrong I am always willing to rip my feat apart for a look, but it is nice not to have to.
Here are some ways I wore socks and heels this year <3
Shopping
Since most of you probably already own socks, I will be including some patterned tights in this section. Always remember the funkier the c*ntier!
Colorful Bold Eyeshadow
THEIR FACE CARDS NEVER DECLINED
This is one of those cases where I can’t tell if I just want this to be a trend, or if it is actually going to be popular. It would just pair so nicely with the rest of the 80s fashion coming back, and it is so beautiful. There is certainly a way to go about these makeup looks that is more modern, so I will insert some photos below. Like Kaitlyn will discuss in her section, royal blue and bubble gum pink will be popular colors this year. Both of which make for a bold 80s eyeshadow look. If you don’t have those colors in a palette right now, go get one!
P.S. big hair and HUGE earrings make a nice addition
I think 2024 is the year for BIG& BOLD fashion statements, which also happen to fall within the late 80’s fashion realm!

POLKA DOTS

Princess Diana, 1988

Julia Roberts, 1990
Polka dots are one one of the biggest statements you can make, IMO.
They are eye catching, flattering, chic, and add a bit of flirty spunk to your outfit.
That’s why they were a go to for Princess Diana and an obvious duh for Costume Designer, Marilyn Vance, when Julia Roberts made her chic fashion transformation in Pretty Woman.
STYLING INSPO
I think we will be seeing polka dots as statement pieces as seen in this inspo photo.

BOLD textures
This trend I like to refer to as the three R’s
1. Ruching
2. Ruffles
3. cRunchy
(technically starts with a c, I know, but the r really stands out)
Miu Miu 2024 Spring/Summer line

and what the h*ll do those mean?
RUCHING
Gathered overlay of fabric strips that are pleated or gathered together to create a ripple-like effect

HOW I WOULD STYLE
Pair this top with THIS mini skirt, brown heeled knee high boots, and a simple clutch or saddle bag.
RUFFLES
A strip of fabric, when gathered or pleated, will create a frill that adds a ruffled line to a garment’s straight edge
EXAMPLE
SHOPPING
HOW I WOULD STYLE
High waisted jeans, blazer over the shoulders & some form of sleek stilettos for a chic bad b*tch look.
CRUNCHY
Fabric woven with pleats or treated to have that “wrinkled” look
EXAMPLE
SHOPPING
HOW I WOULD STYLE
Style this with either a plain spaghetti tank or an off the shoulder sweater with funky tights (go check out Cassidy’s selections above), mid calf socks or leg warmers and sneakers
BUBBLE GUM PINK & ROYAL BLUE
This is a hill I am prepared to die on.
I have seen these two colors all over the runway and my feed the past couple of weeks.
Royal blue simply makes sense due to the nations obsession over cherry red last year.. opposites attract.
Bubble gum pink falls right back into the beloved 80’s category and will be so much fun to play around with in the summer!

SHOPPING
These two colors are pretty easy to find and incorporate into your every day outfits. With the four options listed below, I tried to find items that I think fit with a couple of our trends so you can get the most bang for your buck.
A cheap/quick way to start incorporating these ASAP would be with socks, hair ribbons, nail polish, eyeshadow, phone case.
THE BELOVED CHEETAH PRINT
chic, sexy, mysterious
The first sighting of cheetah print was back in November when Damson Madder took a risk and released these sick cargo jeans.
They sold out after a few months & now the entire nation has been on the edge of their seat waiting for their restock.
Once the influencers caught wind the rest was history and now cheetah is here to stay, thank god.
