Valentine’s Day Gifts for Couples Staying In

These Valentine’s Day gifts ARE your night..

Gifts

that

double

as

dates!

These gifts can be used as your date the day of, February 14th in case you didn’t know, or really as a date night whenever!

If you’re planning on using any of these gifts on Valentine’s Day I have paired them all with the romantic movie that would compliment them the best.

Candle Making Kit x Pretty Women

$50- Product is linked to this photo!

I actually have used this product before (that is why the box is broken open), and it’s so much fun! This kit has everything you could possibly need for making your own candle. The scents, jars, wax, dyes, and wicks are all included! I would recommend going to the thrift store to find some of your own jars/dishes in case the ones provided aren’t you or your partners speed. Pretty Women is a classic, so if you need to turn away and read the instructions you should be able to jump right back into the movie when you’re done.

Framed Puzzle x The Notebook

I’m talking about the kind of puzzle you actually want to keep. Pick a puzzle that your partner would like to use as art in their house (or the house you share). You can put it together while watching The Notebook. Then at the end MOD PODGE the puzzle and let it dry over night. In the morning frame it and hang it up!

What You Need

1.) Puzzle of your choice

2.) MOD PODGE/Sponge Brush

3.) Frame to fit the dimensions of your puzzle

4.) The Notebook

You can mod podge any puzzle you want, but I would look for something on the “artsier” side since you’re planning to hang it up. Think of your partners style and art they already have hanging in their home. You can also use there favorite movies, artists, actresses/actors, to help you pick something!

Supplies

And the puzzle of course…. here are some fun V-day themed options!

Games x How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

This movie pairing should be obvious, we all know these two know how to play games. Play as background noise during your game, or save it for after and use the board game as an Andie and Ben love story pre-game. How many times can I say “game” in one paragraph (five).

Conversation Games

$30 from Intelligent Change (photo linked)

This game claims to help start deep conversation between partners or friends. There are some action cards like “draw each others self portraits”, to keep things interesting.

$18 from Amazon (photo linked)

This game has a little bit of everything! Conversation, challenges, and a spicy category?? I have no idea what that could possibly mean, you’ll have to use your imagination 😉

$14 from target (photo linked)

This would be my personal choice. This is an INTERACTIVE couples game that can be played with two, or against other couples! The question categories are as follows: 1. MATCH- where you try to match your answer to your partner’s 2. BEST- where the best, funniest or most creative answer wins and 3. ME OR YOU- write your name or your partner’s name based on who you think the prompt applies to.

Board Games

$27 from Amazon (image is linked)

This game will act as your movie for the night. 1400 trivia questions for 800 different movies! If you and your Valentine are competitive this is the game for you!

$32 from Amazon (image is linked)

You are detectives in a city filled with crime! It’s like Where is Waldo meets Clue.

Tie Blankets X I Love You, Beth Cooper

If you have never made a fleece tie blanket with your friends you’re probably a guy, because this was a staple of girlhood. That’s why it is paired with I Love You, Beth Cooper. An iconic early 2000s rom-com. I really think this could be an amazing gift, and is my favorite of all these options. Here is what you need to do.

First go to any fabric store and get 6.5ft of fleece in four different fabrics (two per blanket). You’re going to want to take your time sorting through the fabrics. You could go cute, personal, or funny. Think about what your partner would want!

JOANN FABRICS would be my top pick for shopping, but there are tons of places that sell fleece. Traditionally one side has a pattern and the other is a solid color, but I think it’s more fun to have a pattern on both sides. I will provide some fabric options below so you an get a feel of what to look for.

Next, get a cute bag or basket to present your gift in. Include the scissors and ruler so everything is ready to go for your Valentine’s Night in.

Lastly turn on I Love you, Beth Cooper and make your blankets!

P.S. this date pairs nicely with movie theater candy.

All you do is lay the fabrics on the ground print side out, and cut roughly 4×1 inch pieces along the entire boarder. Once this is done go around the blanket and tie the bottom piece to the top piece in a knot.

I will link a video here on how to cut the corners.

BOOM you have a blanket, they should look something like this.

Cooking x Chef

The main plot of Chef does not have to do with romance, but I still think it’s a great choice for Valentine’s Day. Especially if you are going to be cooking!

This book from PAPIER is gorgeous and has the easiest lay out in my opinion.

The idea is that you guys cook something without a recipe. The gift being a recipe book!

Best and safest way to do this is to make a pasta. Get a bunch of potential ingredients like: mushrooms, peppers, chicken, seasonings, sauces, etc. That way once your date comes over, they can pick and choose what they like. It can’t hurt to get a few bottles of wine to pick from as well.

You will always remember that the first recipe you made together was on Valentine’s Day. <3

Wishing you a successful V-Day 😉
