The Best Home-Made Guacamole

Impress At Taco Night with the Best Home-Made Guacamole

I have made this guacamole probably 30 times in the past year, and it hits every single time. You can make this recipe using all fresh ingredients, but it tastes just as good using all dry, I will give you options for both!

Barrio Queen here in Phoenix has pomegranate seeds in their guacamole which I LOVE.

So, I made this recipe with the option of adding pomegranate seeds in at the end, but this step is totally optional. To be honest I usually do not put the pomegranate seeds in because they can be expensive. However, it is a nice touch if you are looking to spice things up. As I mentioned before I will provide tons of options for substitutions if you need to whip this up on the fly.

This recipe is going to go quickly, so I recommend just having all your ingredients out and ready.

Instructions

1.) Squish your avocados (two) into a bowl. When you squish them the pit should slide right out. If your avocados are too hard to squish they are probably not all the way ripe. Don’t freak the f*ck out, you can still make this recipe. Use the blade of a knife (not the point) to pierce the pit, twist, and pull up. Once the pit is stuck to your knife and removed from the avocado bang it a bunch of times on the garbage can until it comes off. You can then scoop the avocado out with a spoon and into your bowl.

2.) Smush your avocado with a fork until it is smooth (some chunks are okay).

3.) Add sour cream (3 Tbs) and mix. This is the most IMPORTANT ingredient do not skimp or skip on the sour cream.

4.) Mix in finely chopped fresh cilantro (1/2 Tbs). If you don’t have fresh use 1/2 Tbs of dry cilantro.

5.) Mince three cloves of garlic, or add 1/2 Tbs of jarred minced garlic.

6.) Squeeze the lemon (1/4 of a lemon) and lime (1/2 lime) juice in and mix for 20 seconds. It’s going to feel like you ruined your guacamole when you initially start mixing, but I promise it will incorporate. If you do not have fresh lemons and limes you can use 1 Tbs of bottled lemon and lime juice.

It should look like this before mixing

7.) Add in all of your dry ingredients and mix. Garlic salt (1/4 tsp), garlic powder (1/4 tsp), onion powder (1/8 tsp), salt and pepper to taste (I like to go heavy on the pepper).

8. Optional 1-2 table spoons for pomegranate seeds.
