Staple Pieces Every Women Needs in Her Closet

The Forever Pieces You Should Splurge On

Staple pieces are classic, versatile items that you can rely on to create chic outfits until the end of time. To put it as dramatic as possible.

Clothing items that have stood the test of time, and proven themselves to be both universally flattering, and timelessly “trendy”.

I can’t help but picture Courtney Cox as Monic in ‘Friends’, when discussing staple pieces for a women’s closet.

Monic’s wardrobe was chic then, and is chic now for just about any age, shape, or size.

Pair these pieces with: dresses, skirts, jeans, sweaters, t-shirts, hoodies, and just about anything else you can think of. Aside from the trench coat, these pieces can also be multi-seasonal. It does not have to be winter for you to rock a jacket.

Casual Vs. Formal

Make it casual by pairing your outerwear with graphic tees, denim, and a relaxed hairstyle.

Make it formal with trousers, heels or flats, and a chic hairstyle.

Tops

Tops that can be layered, or worn separate to maximize outfit possibilities. Most of these are self explanatory except for maybe the wrap top. Wrap tops provide a somewhat “custom” fit piece of clothing for your wardrobe. The tie allows you to shape the top to your body for a chic tailored look!

Casual Vs. Formal

Pro tip: To elevate your look layer your vest over the button up!

Bottoms

You may already have most if not all of these bottoms. The key is to make sure they are high quality and properly fitted. Don’t keep the dress pants you bought ten years ago for your first job, you’re never going to wear those.

Find a pair of each of these that makes you feel confident and comfortable. Something you can go to in a pinch when you have “nothing to wear”, that you know will look good.

Casual Vs. Formal

At this point I talk about linen pants in almost all of my posts. They are basically fancy sweatpants and I’m obsessed!

I love the hidden versatility of a maxi skirt. Style with a loose button down for the office or a chunky crewneck for the grocery store.

Details

Start with your preferred metal, either gold or silver. Gradually build up to having all of these in both gold and silver to maximize outfit combinations. The first and most important one to have in both would be your belt buckle. A belt can really make or break an outfit, you want to make sure you have the right one! To go even further having brown and black belt options is aways nice!

Casual Vs. Formal

Not really applicable for this category!

You can literally wear a whole head of jewelry with sweatpants, or with a dress. I think we all know this by now. As far as belts go, don’t forget to use them in non-traditional ways. For example over a cardigan/sweater to provide shape to an outfit.

Shoes

Not to sound insane because there is no such thing as too many shoes, but these are all you need. Truly almost any outfit is going to work with one of these options.

The color is totally up to you with these guys. black/cream/brown are always safe options, but blue, green and maroon are bold versatile options.

All of these shoes are very versatile, use these mood boards to help inspire your next outfit!

Have fun creating your mini “capsule wardrobes” my lovelies!
