Ballet Flats … what’s the hype?

I feel like ballet flats are that one trend that everyone desperately wants to hate but ends up falling in love with.

There are many reasons why the elegant ballet flats are back in with the trends, one of them being their versatility.

You can find a ballet flat for basically every style out there: chic, punk, high class, casual, preppy, business, vintage, there are even ballet flats marketed towards athletes.

Why Wear Them?

Comfort factor

Ballet flats are basically like socks you can walk on pavement with. They provide a snug fit with a thin flexible sole. With the snug fit, you don’t have to worry about them annoyingly falling off the back of your heel while strolling the streets (unless you bought the wrong size). Although ballet flats are created with a thin sole, the shoe’s architecture is the perfect shape for an insole if you have a stubborn arch or need extra support.

Statement or Subtle

With so many variations of the ballet flat, it’s easy to dress them up or down. A more subtle ballet flat with a simple strap and all over color is the perfect match for an already ‘out there’ outfit. Whereas a statement ballet flat with buckles, sequence, or embellishments are the perfect statement piece to dress up a boring outfit.

Bought the wrong size or have blisters the size of Timbuktu? Keep reading.

Ok so I know I stated above that ballet flats are comfortable… unless you bought the wrong size OR are still breaking them in. In these circumstances the best advise I have to give you is… ACCESSORIES!

It’s a good thing socks with sandals (or ballet flats) are back in. If you bought a pair too big, opt for a more chunky kind of sock. If you are getting blisters up the wazoo? Go for for a thinner pair of socks or even a pair of tights! I linked a few of my favorite ballet flat accessories below.
