4 Trendy Bottoms For This Summer

Anyone else grasping onto life waiting for Summer to get here? In my opinion, there is no better way to occupy time and distract your mind than to shop! And what better to shop for than the upcoming season? ;))

Below you will find the 4 bottoms I think will be hot this Summer along with how to style them.

As always, click the links below to shop directly!

Capris

Cue the bloody murder scream.. now take it back.

Capris have most likely left a bad taste in all of our mouths due to our childhoods but they are back and better than ever! Their dainty and girly fit makes me think and feel like I am a careless twenty year old frolicking through the streets of Europe with a wine buzz. They have always felt playful and young to me, maybe that’s just because I wore them all the time when I was young.. but that makes me think that they are great to sport at events you’re wanting to look chic, put together & youthful at!

All of the it girls capri of choice have been cherry red gingham printed like this pair!

This print in particular pairs perfectly with any dainty/frilly white or black top.

I think capris can easily make your legs look short and stubby with flats. So in my opinion, I think they are best paired with cute little kitten heels because they help to elongate the look of your legs.

When it comes to tops I think an oversized T shirt or a tight fitted top that hits at the top of the pant will look best.

Statement Mini Skirts

Are we really surprised here?

Micro mini skirts are making their debut across all of the it girls IG and Pinterest feeds as of late. Don’t get me wrong, I adore a good denim mini skirt too & can’t wait to buy one of my own, but I think this summer is the time for bold colors and eye catching patterns (if you could’t tell by my bold color post.. click HERE to read) Bonus points if you can find a skort! Mini skirts are great for all fun & flirty events: day dates, girl time, clubbing, ect.

If you’re not super keen on mini skirts or have never worn one, my best advice would be to start your search at a thrift store. Why drop $$$ on an item you don’t know you’ll wear/love the feel or fit of on your body? Plus, if you end up hating it, you can simply just re-donate it and only be out $ vs $$$.

I picked up this hot pink polka dot mini skort at the thrift store this Winter and have been DYING to wear it out. The bold color and pattern make it the perfect Summer staple piece.

When it comes to styling mini skirts, the world is truly your oyster. You can’t go wrong with anything really. To dress the look up, go with knee high boots or heels, a tight fitted top and tights. To dress the look down, pair it with an oversized tee or sweatshirts and tennis shoes!

Balloon Skirts

Along with micro mini skirts, I think balloon skirts will also be hot this Summer.

Balloon dresses were all the riot this Spring (& still are) so it’s only fitting that they will be transitioning into skirts this upcoming season. I think we will see them at all lengths: mini, midi and maxi. Albiet, mini is my favorite simply because they have a little bit more dimension and poof to them! I think that balloon skirts/dresses have a very chic and elegant look which makes them perfect for dates and day errands.

Since balloon skirts have so much dimension to them, you want to keep the tops tight and simple for skirts of all lengths : tank tops, baby tees mock necks, ect. I think that a cropped tee could look cute to dress them down though! For shoes, I love the idea of pairing balloon skirts with ballet flats to play into the elegant/chic aesthetic.

Long Denim Shorts

We will never escape denim shorts, nor do I think we should.

Last year, Abercrombie & Fitch’s dad shorts were all the buzz. This summer I think we will be taking our denim shorts hem line down a little bit longer and leaving them ultra frayed. If you’re not sure about this trend, again head to the thrifts! This look can easily be recreated by cutting up a pair of vintage jeans. The mens section always has a great selection of loose fit denim. When it comes to styling, I think long denim shorts look good dressed up with button ups & vests and down with knee high boots and tanks or sweatshirts.
